About Troop 440
Boy Scout Troop 440, in Silver Spring, Maryland, has been graciously sponsored by St. Bernadette's Catholic Church since 1950. We welcome boys ages 11-17 or age 10, have earned Arrow of Light and graduated 5th grade.
Scouting is a youth leadership program and a wonderful opportunity to experience travel and adventure in locations open only to registered youth scouts and adult scouters. Adult mentors are critical to the success of our boy led troop and we encourage parent involvement. By living the Scout Oath and Law, our scouts are offered the opportunity to realize their leadership potential. During troop activities and throughout their scouting careers, scouts interact with adults, pursue rank advancement in the outdoor classroom and earn merit badges, all while developing important life lessons. Baden Powell, the founder of Boy Scouts said "There is no teaching to compare with example". Troop 440 is honored families allow us to serve our community and set an example for youth on their leadership journey. If you are in our community or across town, you are always welcome to join us. Yours In Scouting, Troop 440 |
Camping and Related Trips
Troop 440 goes on a trip every month. The trips are planned and carried out by the scouts. We go on trips like backpacking, bicycle, canoeing, climbing, kayaking, skiing, snowboarding, white water rafting and attend a one week summer camp each year. We also occasionally attend a BSA High Adventure Camp. |
